Learn Jiu Jitsu, build community and get in shape

All-levels jiu jitsu training in Birmingham, AL.

You need a gym you WANT to go to.

We’ve all had the experience of signing up for a gym and regretting it almost immediately — most gyms have to lock you into contracts to get you to come back.

At Ohm, we don’t want to do that, and we don’t have to: Jiu jitsu is so addictive that you’ll want to come to class, our members are so supportive of each other that they want to be there, and our instruction is unmatched.

Solid instruction. Consistent support. A workout you look forward to. That’s what you’ll find at Ohm Jiu Jitsu.

Two women, one with gray hair wearing a blue shirt and black shorts, and the other with braided hair wearing a white shirt and black pants, are in a wrestling gym. They are close together in a moment of interaction, with the gray-haired woman leaning forward and smiling.
Two wrestlers engaged in a match with a referee closely watching. The wrestler on the right is hunched with one hand on his knee, while the opponent on the left is gripping his head with both hands. The background features a wall with a sign that reads 'Omega Team Wrestling Birmingham' and logos.

Learn from instructors you can trust

DJ and Russell both have black belts in jiu jitsu, and they study consistently to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques. If you’re already training jiu jitsu, they’ll help you level up. If you’re a beginner, you’ll love their personal approach that meets you where you are and gives you the support you need to keep going.

DJ and Russell are new business owners whose sole focus is on helping Birmingham-area residents discover jiu jitsu and be the best jiu jitsu players they can be.

Find training that fits your schedule

We run beginner classes Monday through Thursday at 5:30 and all-levels classes the same days at 6:00. (Beginners are welcome to stay for all-levels classes for no extra charge.)

  • Monday - Thursday: 5:30 beginner class, 6:00 all-levels class

  • Friday night: All-city open mat

  • Saturday morning: Ohm members open mat

At open mat, instructors are on-site if you need help, but we don’t hold a structured class on those days. The Friday night open mat is open to all gyms and anyone who trains jiu jitsu, even if they’re not members of Ohm. This helps strengthen the jiu jitsu community in Birmingham, and it helps our members sharpen their skills with new partners.
